Chardy Giant Schnauzers is a small family kennel. Our dogs are part of our family and we only raise one or two litters every couple of years. We only breed from health tested stock with sound temperament and correct structure. We generally only raise a litter when we are wanting to keep a puppy for ourselves for either the show ring, or obedience trials, tracking etc.

All puppies are AKC registered and come with limited AKC registration unless prior arrangement is made  for unlimited open registration.

Puppies will go to their new homes at a minimum of 8 weeks of age. Puppies will be wormed every two weeks from birth and will have had their initial vaccinations and thorough veterinary exam at 6 weeks of age  as well as microchip. Puppies tails are docked and dewclaws removed by our vet at 3 to 5 days of age. Tails are docked unless otherwise discussed with new puppy owner wherein the puppy must be paid for in full prior to 3 days of age.

Chardy Giant Schnauzers objective is to raise puppies that are sound in temperament, structure, movement and health. All our puppies are raised in the home, and undergo the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test and the Hastings Puppy Puzzling (The Hastings approach to evaluating the structural quality of the puppies) before they are matched with their forever homes. Our pups undergo an extensive socialisation process and are started with basic puppy training  including toilet training and crate training and basic commands.

Ear Cropping -  Due to the high cost of ear cropping and the limited number of qualified veterinarians who perform the correct ear cropping procedure on a Giant Schnauzer, we would prefer if you are wanting to have your puppy's ears cropped, that you have the procedure performed after you take your puppy home. I can recommend the qualified veterinarians who perform the procedure, but be prepared to pay between $500 to $700 for the operation.

I have however found a very good veterinarian in the Houston area who is an ear cropping specialist and is extremely reasonable in his fees. For an average of $175 for an 8 to 10 week old puppy, he does a wonderful job on the ears. We have had one of our puppy's ears cropped and two of our owners have had their puppy's ears cropped by this veterinarian. If you don't live too far from Houston, I thoroughly recommend them.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Michael Revere and his staff at Ear Trim. It is a 5 hour drive for me to go to Houston, however I would not hesitate to take any of my puppies to Dr. Revere for ear cropping procedure. Not only does he do a marvelous job at an incredibly low price, he makes himself available to answer any questions and concerns and follow up support is amazing.

As ear cropping is a surgery please be aware that any procedure that requires anesthesia has a risk of injury or death. Most veterinarians prefer to perform the procedure when the puppy is 8 weeks to 12 weeks of age . As puppies are ready to go to their new home at 8 weeks of age,  the new owner still has time to have the ear cropping procedure done after they have taken the puppy home.  Some vets will perform the procedure up to 16 weeks of age.

Puppies are $1200 to $1600.

Delivery can be arranged to anywhere in the United States for $300 to $375 depending on age of puppy at the time,  which includes airline crate. We reserve the right to determine the shipping company and will work with you to set up the best date and time to have your puppy delivered to the closest airport to you.

You are welcome to put a reservation on a puppy by submitting your name and preferred sex of puppy  and if you have a color preference. You will be notified once puppies have been whelped. Once the puppies reach 3 to 5 days of age  and have had their tails docked and are checked by our veterinarian, you will be required to place a non refundable deposit of $350 to secure your puppy. We will place reservations/deposits in the order they are received so that the first deposit gets first pick of the litter and so on.The non refundable deposit fee will  go toward the purchase price of your puppy. The deposit fee of $350 is only refundable, in the  unlikely event, should the puppy of choice die  and not be available to the purchaser at 8 weeks of age. The deposit can then be either refunded or made available for a future litter at the discretion of the purchaser.

If you are particuarly interested in an uncommon color, such as a Black & Silver, please be aware that these puppies are in great demand and often are spoken for as soon as they are born. So if you are eager to obtain a particular color, it is advisable to place a deposit as soon as the puppies are whelped in order to secure your choice.
